Good only, neatly folded and bright but with faint damp staining, short closed tears, tape residue and pinholes to the edges. Hussein Hamza Bindagji, lecturer in Geography at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, is known for his Atlas, geographical map, and the series of city maps of Saudi Arabia he produced in the 1980s with cartography by Oxford University Press. The recto features the main map on a scale of 1/2.25M, colour blocked for elevation, with details on terrain, internal boundaries, routes, railways, oil pipelines etc. The verso features 3 maps showing population density, and administrative divisions at Emirate and sub-Emirate levels, with extensive indexes and a table with area and population data by Emirate. Eleven of the map sheets relate to the colonies (several contain more than one map): Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, and French Soudan, Reunion, Madagascar, Gabon and French Congo, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, St.-Pierre-Miquelon. Although the title-page mentions 108 maps, this would appear to be complete with 107.

Kershaw 520, plate 375. The map shows the Bay of Placentia on Newfoundland's southern coast with details of the region around the fort, of Placentia Bay (here Bay von Plaisance), the nearby battery, and other topographical information. Compass rose with fleur-de-lis. An early and important map.

Zustand: Very good overall. ADSEC was the Advance Section, Communications Zone, European Theater of Operations in W.W.I.I. This large broadside seems to be designed as a summary for soldiers who served, the text on one side detailing the planning and a pictorial map showing a trail from London to Bristol, Catz, Le Mans, Etampes, Paris, Rheims, Namur, Liege, Bonn from 4 March 1944 to 17 April 1945 with illustrated representations of each location. The text describes the Planning period, Invasion, Breakthrough, Battle of the Bulge, Conquest of Germany, and Finale. W.W.II Allied route maps were created by both American and British forces during and after the war. This map combines the facts of battles and dates with an artistic content is historically informative. ADSEC was charged with: furnishing logistical support to US Army under Gen. Bradley, Determine communications Zone troop requirements; Prepare over all phased supply requirements; Make detailed plans for development of ports, lines of communications, supply and service installations; Prepare plans for evacuations, salvage and repair in rear of First Army; Defend area assigned to ADSEC by First Army; Represent Commanding General, communication zone until HQ 'Com Z' arrived from England. OCLC: 45154031 supplying the date, and stating "May have been published under the auspices of the Advance Section, Communications Zone as a souvenir for its soldiers to take or send home after demobilization? A complete, well-preserved copy. The inserted hand-stenciled leaf is somewhat soiled at margins; maps generally clean and fresh with occasional mild marginal foxing. Hand-coloring remains clear and vivid. An excellent Western Pennsylvania atlas, showing townships, railroads, coal seams, etc. in the years immediately following the Civil War. Farmsteads and major houses are identified by resident; business directories are included for most municipalities, even the smallest villages. Uncommon, especially in such attractive condition.
