The top end of the front board has stains; the remainder of the cover is less thus. The joints have four short splits that are tipped back together with glue. The front pastedown has a few, samll rubbed spots. The title page has a faint, ink stamp of an owner's name. DJ: The illustrations spans 3 panels; small chips and closed tears on the top and bottom edges; spine panel and flaps' folds have darkened a little; the top end of the front panel has a few, small, light stains; sparse, small stains on the remainder of the DJ. Ditmars and Helene Carter is a true collectors item. The cover is bright, colorful, and free from damage, with only minor signs of wear and aging around the edges, particularly near the bottom spine. The interior is in exceptional condition, with clean and bright pages. There are no markings, writing, or highlighting to be found. The front endpaper shows slight aging (foxing), but this does not detract from the books overall beauty. The edge of the pages has a few minor gouges, though they do not impact the readability or the vivid illustrations that bring the book to life. While this edition does not have a dust jacket, the stunning artwork and the books excellent condition for its age make it a rare find.
