Light thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutter…s and hinges, exposing netting, causing some noticeable looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft splitting and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Among her well-known contributions to feminism was her work with The Famous Five, insisting that women be considered "qualified persons" under Canadian law, which would enable them to serve in the Senate, a case they eventually won. Alas, she also believed in eugenics and, partially because of her strong campaigning, the Sexual Sterilization Act of 1928 was passed in Alberta, Canada.

Ernest William Haslehust (1866 1949) was a British landscape painter and book illustrator who usually worked in watercolours. Warwick Reynolds (1880-1926) is a lesser-known illustrator and cartoonist best-known for portraying animals.
