Erstausgabe Signiert
Paperback. First Edition. Mornington, The Canary Press, 2013 to 2016. Quarto, approximately 60 pages per issue, with numerous illustrations (mainly from contributors' artworks, many in colour). Colour-pictorial wrappers; minimal signs of handling (confined mainly to the first issue); a near-fine run. The first and second issues are warmly inscribed and signed by the editor Robert Skinner (the first issue was co-edited by Andy Josselyn). The distinctive front cover illustrations (and four on rear covers) are by Gustavo Ortega Rojas (also known as Gustavo Ortega). 'We're planning on going for a long time. This business is fun. But we're hoping just to make it past Issue One. Most short story publications we realised, are only ever one invoice and three beers away from becoming a nudie magazine to stay alive' (from the editorial in the first issue). The editor writes in Number 10 that 'This issue will close out the first chapter of "The Canary Press" - with a bang, we hope. We will be taking a brief hiatus so we can relaunch the magazine in early 2017'. No further issues were forthcoming . [10 items]. Signed.
