paperback. Zustand: Ottimo (Fine). Fotografie in bianco e nerodi Liam Magee Copertina morbida (dorso doppio) in busta di cartone. Progetto di Oliver Boulton. Curatori Liam Magee, Oliver Boulton, Duncan Wooldridge, Sigune Hamann. Cm 26x21. pp. 36. . Ottimo (Fine). . Prima ed. di 150 esemplari (First edition of 150 copies). . In den Warenkorb14/75 COPIES (from an overall edition of 300 copies), signed by Professor Eileen Hogan of the Camberwell College of Arts, this, one of the deluxe edition issued in a folder with a set of prints (this copy without folder and prints), printed on Canaletto paper, monochrome full-page illustration, colour illustration of tickets, and 10 full-page colour-printed lithographed reproductions, title-page printed in blue and black, pp. [32], large 4to, publisher's sea-green morocco-backed boards covered with paper reproducing design by Tirzah Ravilious, upper board with printed label, label with faint mark, near fine. Ravilious' textured, highly evocative illustrations, created while he was an official war artist with the Admiralty, following the submarine, HMS Dolphin. The illustrations are punctuated by illuminating, playful extracts from letters to his wife, Tirzah, O'Rourke Dicky of the War Artists Advisory Committee and to his friend and fellow artist, Helen Binyon: 'The electric light has failed as it is Good Friday and I am writing by candle. The fire is poor and the room is like a cave. The submarine pictures are done but not as good as they ought to be. It is a pity. Some aren't bad: perhaps lithography in five colours is too much and the result tends to be a chromo, you shall see them one day.'.
