Octavo, 31 pages, tawny cloth A brief history of the Pledge of Allegiance, written by Calvert, who was the commander of the nuclear submarine division of the U. S. Navy, having captained the USS Skate, a nuclear sub which sailed twice to the North Pole. President Dwight Eisenhower signed the law in 1954 which added the words, "under God", to the Pledge.
