An interesting look at William Callow, a landscape painter who was active in the nineteenth century. He studied under the artists Copley Fielding and Thales Fielding, leaning watercolour techniques, before finding work as an engraver. He exhibited work in Paris, and eventually his work gained rapid popularity in England. He became a member of the Old Water-Colour Society, as well as keeping travel dairies. Written by Jan Reynolds, a specialist in watercolours. She established her reputation as a art writer with her publication 'The Williams Family of Painters'. Illustrated with four coloured plates, and numerous monochrome plates. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart.
