From the preface This book was originally intended as a text for students and…its primary purpose has not changed it has however been increasingly used by practising farmers and in order that it may serve their needs also the authors have been at pains to avoid the use without explanation of such scientific terms as have not yet become part of our farming vocabulary. The pace of progress in farm science and technology is now such that any sizable book must inevitably be out of date in some respect before it leaves the press. In the present case the most important failing is with respect to various noteworthy developments in the field of farm chemicals (weed killers insecticides etc.) which occurred in the few months preceding publication. 278 pp.
