Index to genera and families. From the Preface Increasing worldwide concern over the present state of biodiversity and conservation has now given a new lease of life to exploratory studies. Neglected in the past our knowledge about the floristic and faunistic diversity of our country is far from complete. This is especially true of Andhra Pradesh one of the largest State of India. In spite of the fact that it is floristically one of the richest areas in India a complete inventory of the flora of Andhra Pradesh is still lacking. Further compilation of regional flora should provide the basic material for the envisaged Flora of India. A first compilation of the Flora of Andhra Pradesh was prepared by Pullaiah et al. (1997) which deals with 2500 species of angiosperms. However during further study of herbarium specimens and perusal of literature it has been observed that about 272 taxa need to be included in Flora of Andhra Pradesh. Therefore in order to make the flora of Andhra Pradesh more comprehensive it was considered worthwhile to publish the taxonomic account of all additional taxa in the form of a supplement. This book would be of use to botanists foresters environmentalists the students of botany and research workers interested in the flora of the Andhra Pradesh. Families have been arranged according to the Bentham and Hooker system of classification (with a slight modifications to accommodate recent changes). 148 pp.

Field key to the mangroves. 5. Descriptions of the species. References. Index to families and species. Index to local names. Traditionally plants were identified and described with emphasis on reproductive characters like flowers and fruits. This method works well with herbs which are annual thus lacking distinguishing characters like the bark and easily enabling collection and preservation of the whole plant. However use of reproductive characters for day to day identification by field biologists amateur naturalists and people who do not necessarily posses special botanical knowledge is difficult and necessary. An urgent need of a preparation of field identification handbook for the mangrove forests which are having high ecological and economic value and recognized as most threatened ecosystems is felt. The present contribution will helpful to identify a mangrove plant species based on vegetative characters (bark leaf branching pattern etc) in the field itself. The present work is based on authors eleven years of field experience covering different mangrove systems. The book presents a field identification key to 109 species of Mangroves and associates. In addition colour photographs for several species were provided. 100 pp.

The present book provides comprehensive information for the identification of flowering plants of Telangana State, is the prerequisite for sustainable management of these natural resources and documenting the plant diversity of India. K.N. Reddy and C. Sudhakar Reddy together made immense contributions to the Flora of Telangana. The flowering plants of Telangana collected by earlier workers has been cited in the 'Flora of Andhra Pradesh' by Pullaiah et.al. in 1997, 'Supplement to Flora of Andhra Pradesh' by C.S. Reddy et al. in 2008 and recently in 'Flora of Telangana' by Pullaiah in 2015. The uniqueness of present study lies in accommodation of recent nomenclatural changes in species, genera and families, which has brought out high diversity in generic and family levels. According to this study, the 'Flora of Telangana State' comprises 1911 taxa of flowering plants distributed within 893 genera and 162 families. In addition, information of historical changes in forest cover, vegetation types, review of work done, endemic and red-listed species, invasive alien species, wild relatives of crops and economically important tree species have been provided. Maps of vegetation type and altitudinal zonation were included in this book. In order to obtain an insight into the relations of the Flora of Telangana with the neighbouring floras, a comparative analysis of ten dominant families were made. An artificial key to the families have been provided according to Bentham and Hooker's classification with certain exceptions to contain recent changes. The genera within the family and species within the genus have been kept in alphabetical sequence. The keys and descriptions are important aspects of the work and hence special care has been taken based on the field observations and literature. (jacket).
