Bound in is a letter dated October 5, 1911 from Henry Campbell Booth to French botanist Philippe de Vilmorin (1872-1917), in which Booth explains that this book belonged to his wife's grandfather, Captain Frederick Marryat (1792-1848), the Royal Navy officer who pioneered nautical fiction.
