[Translated into Modern Notation and Edited with an Introduction by Edward Francis Rimbault (13 June 1816 - 26 September 1876) English organist, musicologist, book collector and author]. Engraved by William Hole (or Holle) was a skilled English engraver who died in 1624 though the date of his birth is uncertain.

Zustand: Fine. Recently rebound in quarter scarlet leather, matching red sides, gilt title to the spine. Folio 16'' x 11½''. The original edition engraved on copper plates by William Hole, was published in 1611. It was again printed from the same plates in 1613, with the addition of a dedication. Subsequent impressions (always f…rom the original plates) appeared in 1635, 1650, and 1659. The Parthenia claims the merit of having been the first musical work printed from copper plates; and example that was generally followed, in regard to instrumental music, both in this country and on the continent. Contains half-title, title-page, facsimile page of the original from 1611, illustrated title-page, dedication, 3 page introduction with vignette above the first leaf, 50 pages of score. Just minor spotting to the introductory pages, otherwise in Fine condition, superb condition copy. Member of the P.B.F.A. SHEET MUSIC.
