The first volume set out her findings on the history of Florence in the 16th century, and its importance as a centre of sculptural excellence in the Renaissance. This second volume contains the many appendices referred to in that first tome, quoting in full the relevant Italian texts (the student will need some expertise in the Italian language!) There is a section of 142 illustrations (colour and monochrome), a 51-page bibliography of sources, an index of names and places, a subject index, and, at the back of the book, 2 maps , one (folding) of Florence in 1584, one, a single page, of Fiesole.
