Compiling an annotated biographical biography of the Islamic world, and particularly the Ottoman Empire, across six centuries of history and the intercontinental geographic context of historical literature, IRCICA proudly presents this magnificent collection, a first of its kind, to the scholarly world. The study records, in chronological order, works and authors written during these centuries in Anatolia, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Crimea, western Iran, the Middle East, and North Africa, along with descriptive information obtained from the works themselves and hundreds of other sources. While a significant portion of the recorded manuscripts and printed works relate to Ottoman political history, works from diverse historical fields such as Islamic history, world history, intellectual history, archaeology, memoirs, and travelogues are also included. The introductory sections of the study provide a breakdown of the 4,351 authors identified, their works, and historiography in general by region, period, and subject, as well as various findings that shed light on this field.
