Very good condition, foxing spots in cloth of front cover and on fixed and free endpapers, top of spine little frayed, lower right corner of front board bumped. Photographs of the "city of light" in the main by Mario von Bucovich, with numerous others credited to Germaine Krull and a couple from other sources. In the series Die Gesicht der Städte, edited by Carl Otto Justh. Bucovich went into exile in the 1930s and eventually settled in Mexico, where he died. He has been described as ''eine[r] der großen Unbekannten der europäischen Fotografie des 20. Jahrhunderts" (one of the great unknowns of European photography of the 20th century).
