This volume is his scatching response to the accusations that his restorations damaged the Cathedral.Bookplate of Arthur c. Newsum to the front paste down. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, a little worn, with loss and lifting to the head of the spine, a smaller amount of loss to the tail. Light bumping to the extremities. Spine is faded. A few light marks to the cloth. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional scattered spot, mostly to the first and last few pages. Good. None (illustrator). book.

Previous owner's name neatly inked on the front free endpaper. Internally some minor signs of handling else neat and clean. Firmly bound and robust. John Chessel Buckler was the chief architect for Lincoln Cathedral in the mid 19th century. This is his virulent and controversial defence against his critics for the repair and restoration work undertaken at the Minster, as well as an exploration of the contemporary state of architectural restoration work om religious buildings.
