Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - P.I. Personal Index is the story of how the One World Government of planet Earth decides to assign every human being a score, so it can manage its relationship with all citizens and shape a new ruling class on the basis of that measurement. The plot revolves around the criteria the administration must adopt to determine each person's score. Within the World Council, a dedicated Commission is created and divided into three Subcommissions, tasked with selecting the most significant parameters and debating the evaluation criteria. The narrative thus surveys, before the reader's eyes, the entire spectrum of human types and their characteristic behaviors. The story becomes psychological, character-focused, and sociological, and the account provides an opportunity for a deep reflection on our condition and that of our fellow human beings.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - After identifying the abnormal development of Homo sapiens' brain as the cause of all the evils afflicting the biosphere-namely, the carcinogenesis of the tumor that we have now become for planet Earth-this book highlights the limits that nonetheless mark that abnormal development. Beyond a certain level of expansion, in fact, our brain cannot go, and although it has managed to destroy a large part of other living beings, it is not capable of reconstituting the balance of natural elements that, over millions and millions of years, had formed spontaneously. And without that balance, life cannot survive. Hence the mad and desperate race to seek an intelligence more effective than our own, capable of restoring a sustainable equilibrium for the elements of nature that we have not yet destroyed.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - What if our intelligence-rather than being a divine spark or a marvelous work of nature (depending on whether one identifies with creationism or evolutionism)-were a tragic error in life's evolutionary process, a 'disadvantageous' path that nature happened to take and will soon abandon in order to return to forms of life less destructive to the environment This question, as distressing as it is fundamental for all humankind, is what the theory set out in this essay-named 'Cancrism' by its author-tries to answer. And the answer, unfortunately, is yes. Yes, our intelligence is the product of an abnormal evolution undergone by the brain of the genus Homo, an evolution that has allowed us to bend the very laws of nature to our advantage, to upset-again to our advantage-the delicate and ultra-complex system of biological devices and mechanisms that formed spontaneously over millions upon millions of years, and to do so in a flash, in just a few thousand years, a mere instant on the cosmic scale. But it does not enable us to create a new equilibrium as solid as the one we destroyed. Our intelligence (or reason) is indeed the most powerful instrument to have developed on this planet, but its power is nothing compared with what would be required to govern, in a stable and balanced way, the innumerable variables present in nature. By breaking an infinity of seemingly useless links, we have interrupted the vital flow of the super-organism that hosts us, and we now suffer the consequences, with their sadly familiar names: pollution, global warming, desertification, overpopulation, and so on. How can one fail to see a correspondence between this kind of behavior and that of cells whose genetic material mutates to the point of turning them into cancerous agents, unwilling to accept programmed cell death (apoptosis) and destined, through their uncontrolled proliferation, to set the tumor process in motion.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Humans reproduce on Earth in an uncontrolled, uncoordinated way, like cancer cells in the body of a patient. To meet the needs of a population that has doubled within a few decades, society has had to build rigid, complex organizations, step up scientific research, and apply the most innovative technological advances to food and energy. It has had to erect the 'Planet's Cancer Empire.'The central part of the book delves into these themes in depth. The opening chapters outline the idea of the global village and examine the inevitability of the path we have taken. The final part looks to the future, to when Nature will present the bill for the feast held at her expense, and to the great new cultural revolution we should promote to contain the damage done so far.A substantial appendix is devoted to the forerunners of 'Cancerism.'.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Are cancer cells aware that they are malignant-that is, that they bear a deadly disease Certainly not.If they were, would they regress Hard to say; if it were possible, one ought to try to make them aware.Well then, if human beings are to be likened to a cancer cell that is destroying the healthy tissues of Gaia's body, it is our duty to try to make humanity aware of its nature. So much for being the son of God, king of creation, lord of the world! We simply received from Mother Nature an unsolicited gift-the abnormal evolution of our brain-and we used it for our exclusive advantage, invading and devastating the spaces that the balance formed over millions upon millions of years had reserved for all animal and plant species. Now we are close to the point of no return, just as happens with cancer cells in terminal patients. How can we keep watching this devastation without a cry-a desperate attempt to open our contemporaries' eyes This is the motivation that led me to write this new essay, the second in the 'The Planet's Cancer' series.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The artificial world has long since supplanted the natural one, but today the functioning of the Great Machine is about to seize up. No subtle analysis is needed to sense that the biosphere is gravely ill, and that we human beings are at the origin of this illness. Like cancer cells, we are devouring from within the body of the organism that hosts us. This thesis was set out in The Planet's Cancer - Why Humanity Is Earth's Malignancy and in the essays that followed. In support of this analysis, the author also wrote dozens of short essays. These 'thoughts,' unmistakably heretical with respect to the dominant progressive orthodoxy, are now collected in this book, for anyone who wishes to explore in greater depth this new revolutionary theory: Cancerism.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu.
