Facsimile reprint ( with the imperfections of the original ex-library copy) of a monthly publication originally published in Dubuque, Iowa under various titles : Dubuque Chess Journal, Brownson's Chess Journal, The Chess Journal ( and later superced…ed by The American Chess Journal). Edited by Brownson although the reprint states " Anonymous". This volume contains Nos.70-82 from January 1876 to December 1877. There is no index. Includes chess problems, games with brief notes, chess news, chess poetry ( a regular occurence unfortunately), extracts from Greco's Chesse-Play, lists of chess books/magazines for sale or exchange.
