Stapled card covers over 15 leaves, printed rectos only: a one-page introduction, 13 poet bios, each with an illustrated portrait, and an order form addressed to Jan Falkiner, secretary. Modest wear and front cover a bit sunned, very good or better. A large and interesting advertisement for a poets' collective brought together to facilitate readings; they make it clear in the introduction that they are "not a school of poets, nor a union, nor a guild. Although most of us have worked together in concerts [sic], we are not a clique." The poets are Pete Brown, Spike Hawkins, Adrian Henri, Anselm Hollo, Mike Horovitz, Libby Houston, Alan Jackson, Roger McGough, Ted Milton, Adrian Mitchell, Jeff Nuttall, Brian Patten, and Tom Pickard. A very small imprint inside the lower wrap reads "An F.[? letter is rubbed] Norman Cox Production." Interesting and uncommon.…

Rare ephemera of the Liverpool Scene on what must have been a fascinating evening considering the line up, perhaps a little surprising to see the Exploding Galaxy in the line up. POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. Numbers 9-25,1961 -1967 - all original. 17 issues in total. Edited by Ian Hamilton Finlay, POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. is seen as the most important concrete poetry journal of the 1960s in Britain. The journal title comes from Robert Creeley's poem "Please" (1959). The early numbers are black & white, but later numbers involve colour (often silkscreen) illustrations as the concrete poetry movement blossomed. It has become highly influential for both poets and artists (see for example the ICA group exhibition POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. of 2009). Issue no. 10 is 'a concrete number', including Augusto de Campos, Eugen Gomringer, Dom Sylvester Houédard and Edwin Morgan. Issue no. 12 is a 'Visual Semiotic Concrete' edition. Issue no. 18 is a collaboration, with writings and script by Ad Reinhardt and drawings and layout by Bridget Riley. Issue no. 25 the final issue is dedicated to one-word poems.
