Zustand: Good-VG. 2nd Edition (1st-1775). 488pp. (to p.7 in Roman), all edges red; sm.1883 dated sig.top fr. blank fly-leaf plus fragment of apparently earlier inscribed paper, otherwise internally excellent being clean, tight & unmarked with marbled endpapers, fr.gutter cracking but secure, end gutter also cracking but to lesser extent. Tooled calf covers with dentelle edges clean but rubbing to extremities, board margins, joints and v.sl.to surfaces elsewhere, bottom joints cracked with some loss to 5 cms of fr.joint, paneled sp. otherwise quite sound though has presumably lost label as only impressed title remains; despite these binding faults the book remains tight and not unattractive. Scarce translation by Brooke of the autobiography of the charismatic French Quietist, previously published in Dublin in 1775, BL records only these two editions.

Some browning and sporadic foxing otherwise good. ink ownership inscription on fep and ink ownership inscription upper margin title page. Bound in half dark brown calf gilt and marbled paper covered boards. Some damage to edges of label. Light shelfwear. Second of only 2 editions.
