Mathieu Briancourt beschreibt die von dem frühsozialistischen französischen Theoretiker, Reformer und Utopisten Charles Fourier (1772-1836) erdachte landwirtschaftliche oder industrielle Produktions- und Wohngenossenschaft der Phalanstère oder Phalansterium, die nach dessen Überlegungen jeweils ein…e Phalanx (Gemeinschaft) von im Idealfall exakt 1620 Mitgliedern bilden sollten. Dieser überschaubare Personenkreis sollte darin gemeinsam wohnen, arbeiten und konsumieren. Bestandteil des Sozialentwurfs war die auf dem Prinzip der Geschlechtergleichheit basierende Freie Liebe. Die Idee wurde seitdem in diversen, teilweise längerdauernden Sozialexperimenten in die Realität umgesetzt. Die Broschüre in französischer Sprache erklärt jene Prinzipien, die Charles Fourier im Appendix A in seiner Theorie der vier Bewegungen niedergelegt hat.
