Subsequently published by Boyd's family, the narrative covers Boyd's early life followed by travel and work in the Hebrides, St. Kilda, working for the Nature Conservancy, the Arabian desert, Petra and Wadi Rum, Uganda, the Serengeti, the Indian Ocean and elsewhere.
