He was of royal descent, being a direct offspring of the Ming dynasty prince Zhu Quan who had a feudal establishment in Nanchang. -This work, in the context of an historical overview of the period in which the painter, poet and calligrapher Bada Shanren lived, discusses his importance in Chinese art history and provides a biography detailing his genealogy, education, activities, associates and artistic development.
