Draft script for an unproduced play. Based on the 1937 novel by Daniel Fuchs, about a small-town racketeer who suffers a mental breakdown when his turf is threatened by a ruthless, sinister gangster. The novel was later adapted into the 1947 film noir "The Gangster," with a screenplay written by Fuchs and Dalton Trumbo. Set in the fictional boardwalk town of Neptune Beach, Brooklyn. Tan titled wrappers, with a sticker for Rialto Service Bureau Typing and Mimeographing on the front wrapper. Title page present, with credits for playwright Allen Boretz and novelist Daniel Fuchs. 149 leaves, with last page of text numbered 3-2-33. Mimeograph duplication on onionskin stock, rectos only. Final Draft script for the 1947 film. Copy likely belonging to an uncredited costume designer, with annotations in manuscript pencil throughout. Groucho Marx's first solo film appearance, and his first with a real mustache as opposed to one made with grease paint. Marx plays an incompetent theatrical agent whose only client is Carmen Miranda, in her first film after leaving Twentieth Century-Fox, and who he tries to pass off as two different performers. Set in New York City, and shot there on location. Tan titled wrappers, noted as Final Draft on the front wrapper, dated October 28, 1946. Title page integral with the first page of the text. 97 leaves, with last page of text numbered 97. Mimeograph on pink stock, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Good, bound with two silver brads.

Cast with brief biographies includes several actors-turned-servicemen and 2 actresses courtesy of USO-Camp. Shows, Inc., namely Brooke Fleming and Virginia Robinson. Directed by George Abbott, theatrical and film producer whose career spanned 8 decades. Room Service was a 1937 screwball comedy about show business set in the White Way Hotel in New York City. It was the basis for the 1938 Marx Brothers film and was remade as Step Lively in 1944 with George Murphy and Frank Sinatra. Playwright John Murray served as a Captain in the Signal Corps during the war. Unusual piece of World War II ephemera, from the estate of a veteran. Creased, folded.

Based on "Princess O'Hara," a short story by Damon Runyon, previously adapted by Universal in 1935. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. 10 x 8 inches.
