An untrimmed copy of Borcherd's appointment as Permanent Sitting Commissioner in 1826 is affixed to the frontispage. Laid paper with watermark (1816). Also included: a handwritten/ handmade chart (from a previous owner) of Borcherd's jo…urney to the northern frontier with Petrus Truter. The distances are marked in hours and miles. It is wonderfully fresh and neat. Previous owner signature (J C Beattie) on the frontispage. A mild-mannered copy. The boards have blind-stamped decoration. Gilt titling on the spine (benign). The boards have wear from shelving and handling to all edges, corners, seams. They are scuffed, a little tanned about the edges. The spine has been a little sunned; there is shelving wear to the head and foot. The spine and boards are steady and sure. The early and later pages have blizzards of foxing. The contents have spits and spots of foxing here and there throughout. By far the pages are thick, healthy, clean, clear, generous, amenable, amiable, eager. fk.
