First edition. 114pp., a frontispiece portrait, and a 2-page advertisement for another book by the author together with a 4-page catalogue at the end of the book. This is a memorial volume for Lewis Shaw Stuart (1859-1880) of Aberlour, who drowned in the Spey aged 21. The preface is by the Scottish minister Andrew Alexander Bonar (1810-1892). The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling and black border lines on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling to the boards. The spine ends and corners are bumped. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few light marks and a stain on the front free endpaper. A name and address has been written on the back of the frontispiece with some of the ink transferring onto the back of the front free endpaper. There is a two-line stamp reading 'G.F. Irvine - Liff Road Library' on the front free endpaper, the back of the frontispiece, pages 73 and 97, back of the rear free endpaper and the rear fixed endpaper.
