Michael « Bommi » Baumann (1947-2016), né à Berlin-Ouest, était un anarchiste allemand. Ouvrier dans la construction, il se lance dans la violence politique et la guérilla urbaine en juin 1967 et devient membre du mouvement Kommune 1. Après un incendie criminel à Berlin-Ouest, il effectue environ un an et demi de prison, puis devient, avec Georg von Rauch, membre fondateur et recruteur du Mouvement anarchiste armé du 2 Juin, dont le nom fait référence à la date de l'assassinat d'un étudiant tué d'une balle dans la tête par un policier lors d'une grande manifestation contre la venue du Chah d'Iran à Berlin-Ouest. En 1972, il voyage en Syrie, en Iran, en Afghanistan et en Inde et, en 1974, abjure la violence. L'année suivante, il décrit son évolution personnelle dans son autobiographie et commente de manière critique la lutte armée. En 1981, il est arrêté à Londres et condamné à cinq ans de prison pour vol dans une banque et attaques l'explosif ; en prison, il écrit sa seconde uvre autobiographique, qui paraît en 1987.
