Nicolas de Bohier 1469 1539 est un jurisconsulte , président à Mortier au parlement de Bordeaux. Cert ouvrage de référence tout aussi bien en droit pénal qu'en droit canon , fut réimprimé jusqu'à la fin du 17éme siècle . Plaisant exemplaire en reliure lyonnaise d'époque, portant les exlibris manuscrits de anciens. Signé par l'auteur. Livre d'occasion.

Exemplaire fascinant qui permet d'observer le mode de fabrication des reliures au XVIe siècle.

Contemporary speckled calf, gilt spine with raised bands and lettering piece, edges rouged. Light rubbing, a few small dampstains and some shallow scuffing and scratches to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, front joint starting at ends, rear joint starting at head, light wear to board edges and corners, which are bumped, hinges cracked. Light toning to interior, occasional very light foxing, faint dampstaining to first and last fifty or so leaves, minor worming to fore-edge of pp. 141-162, early underlining, marginal marks and annotations through p. 244 (and to a few other later pages), light soiling, small hole and early (illegible) ink annotation to title page. $650. * Later edition. Bohier, Viscount of Pommiers, was a lawyer and principal magistrate of the Parlement of Bordeaux. First published in 1547, his collection of decisions from that body was well-regarded and highly useful, particularly for issues of canon and criminal law, and was reprinted well into the seventeenth century. The annotations to our copy appear to consist of both brief glosses and interpretative notes. OCLC locates 7 copies of this edition, none in North America. Universal Short-Title Catalogue 6900334.

Bound in full mottled calf, binding w…orn with upper joint broken, some old leather restorations at top of spine, red speckled edges , first fly leaf partly loose, old waterstains throughout, especially at the upper part of the first 100 pages. Still a solid and acceptable copy. Nicolas Boyer , lawyer and university professor at Bourges became president of the Parliament of Bordeaux . In 1520-1529 he was the first to write and publish about customary law in France, notably those of his native region '' Le Berry''. The publication comprises the customary laws of Bourges, Orléans and Tours. This Frankfurt edition of 1575 is the second edition, also the first with extensive indices. Reworked editions on the subject were published up till 1750. (see Camus ''Bibliothèque choisi des livres de droit'' N° 1201-3).

Nicolas de Bohier, president of the Bordeaux Parliament edited this collection of sentences of the Bordeaux courts in the first half of the 16th century. It was much esteemed and reprinted many times in the 16th and well into the 17th century.
