In den WarenkorbHardback. Zustand: Very Good - See Description. Lockhart, Bogle, the Author, and others (illustrator). First Edition. 1898. First edition (limited to 100 large paper copies and 500 ordinary copies). xxvii (including a red and black title-page illustrated with designs in addition to the plain title-page), 487pp., a frontispiece and numerous black and white illustrations and reproductions from old prints and photographs, etc. Lochaber is a part of the Scottish Highlands, and was historically a provincial lordship consisting of the parishes of Kilmallie and Kilmonivaig. Lochaber once extended from the Northern shore of Loch Leven to beyond Spean Bridge and Roybridge. The author writes in his Preface to this workL "It has been my endeavour to collect, in the compass of this volume, all that is of most interest in the authentic history and traditionary lore of Lochaber, and to rescue from possible oblivion its many old-world stories and quaint legends, which another generation will probably have forgotten amid the intrush of the questionable civilising influences of Sassenach tourists." There is an introductory poem by Alice C. Macdonell of Keppoch, Bardess of the Clan Donald Society. This is an ex-library copy and has been rebacked and recased in a new sturdy library binding of blue cloth with gold titling and a gold reference number on the spine. The case of the book is in excellent condition. The contents are tight and clean with an old tape stain down the spine gutter between pages x and xi and a new thin strip of white tape down the spine between pages viii and ix. The only library indications appear to be traces of two removed labels on the front free endpaper, an oval stamp and two date stamps on the back of the frontispiece, two reference numbers on the top edge of the illustrated title-page, and two reference numbers on the plain title-page. PLEASE NOTE: This is a fairly heavy book and extra postage may apply for delivery outside the UK.
