The details suppressed, changed, embellished, are those which, according to Solis, haven't any basis other than uncertainty or conjecture. " (extract from the preface). This copy has the imprint of Delalaine; the Mattioli and Sraffa copies have the imprint of Debure: "no priority established" (Sraffa Library). It is both institutionally and commercially scarce as the book was "suppressed because it attacked the Fermieres Généraux" (Sraffa Library). Library Hub locates just four copies with the Delalain imprint in British and Irish institutional libraries (two at Cambridge, Senate House, and Sheffield), and WorldCat adds nine more worldwide.
