"Bob Dylan zeigt ab dem 28 Oktober (und bis zum 03 Februar 2008) die weltweit erste Ausstellung seiner Bilder in den Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz. Trotz seiner mehr als vier Jahrzehnte währenden malerischen Arbeit ist diese dreimonatige Ausstellung - The Drawn Blank Series - seine erste Museumsschau. Speziell für diese Ausstellung schuf Bob Dylan über 200 mehrfarbige, auffallend intensive Variationen von Motiven aus Zeichnungen und Skizzen, die zwischen 1989 und 1992 entstanden und 1994 unter dem Titel "Drawn Blank" bei Random House als Buch erschienen. Im Vorwort zu diesem Buch erklärte der Künstler, es handele sich um Skizzen für Gemälde, die er eventuell später ausführen wolle. Die jetzt vollendeten Werke sind fotolithografische Übertragungen eigener Bildmotive auf Büttenpapier, denen Bob Dylan mit Aquarell- und Gouachefarben überraschend neue Variationen und Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten verlieh. Gefragt, warum diese Ausstellung gerade in Chemnitz gezeigt wird, erklärte die Direktorin der Kunstsammlungen, Ingrid Mössinger: "Ich habe das Buch mit Bob Dylans Zeichnungen in der Ausstellung 'Bob Dylan's American Journey, 1956-1966' in The Morgan Library and Museum in New York gesehen. Daraufhin habe ich mir sofort ein Exemplar gekauft und mich nach den Originalen erkundigt." Und Bob Dylan selbst sagt: "Das Interesse von Ingrid Mössinger hat mich fasziniert und den Anstoß dafür gegeben, das umzusetzen, was ich mit diesen Zeichnungen vor Jahren machen wollte."
