In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Good. 2nd Edition. This is the revised edition 1951 (first published 1938). Original printed wraps 13 x 19cm. Printed at the Curwen Press, Plaistow. 16pp. Covers good, lightly dusted with a patch of scuffing to the front. Interiors very good. The compiler, Blanche Hulton, was the author's granddaughter. Sir…James Ranald Martin (1796-1874) served as an East India Company Army doctor during 1817-40. As a hobby, he collected recipes from the Courts of different Rajahs whom he visited, and from the Messes of Regiments known for their hospitality. On his return to London, he hosted eminent people with these dishes, Florence Nightingale among them. Hulton also includes recipes from her mother, written up during the Siege of Lucknow, a biography and history behind the book. Various curry powder mixes are credited, eg "Sir Ranald Martin's favourite recipe. Captain Wroughton's famous recipe. As used by the Rance of Hyderabad 1855. a very old recipe from Madras". Recommendations are made, e.g Pish Pash (a very old family recipe) is good for invalids. Scarce.
