Das Buch behandelt die weitreichenden Auswirkungen der Hochwasserkatastrophe im Juli 2021 in Deutschland, insbesondere in den Regionen Nordrhein-Westfalen und Rheinland-Pfalz. Es beleuchtet die physischen, sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Folgen des Ereignisses, das zu massiven Schäden an Infrastruktur, Wohngebäuden und kritischen Infrastrukturen führte. Die Autorinnen und Autoren analysieren die Herausforderungen im Rahmen des (Wieder-)Aufbaus und betonen die Notwendigkeit eines integrierten Hochwasserrisikomanagements, das technische, natürliche und soziale Aspekte berücksichtigt.Ein zentrales Anliegen des Buches ist es, aus den Erfahrungen der Katastrophe zu lernen und resilientere Strukturen für zukünftige Hochwasserereignisse zu schaffen.
