De Lancey copied the map his grandfather's brother created showing the layout of the De Lancey's property, (outlined in red) along with other prominent landowning families including Rutgers, Bayard, Dyckman, Jones, and De Peyster. 'The designation of Thomas Jones as the owner of "Mount Pitt" indicates the original map was definitely drawn after Thomas Jones's 1765 marriage to Anne De Lancey, since James De Lancey (author of the original map) gave his sister and brother-in-law the property as a wedding gift.'
