Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. AN AMERICAN ARTIST S STORY BY GEORGE BIDDLE 1939 FIRST PRINTING DJ VG It did not take me long to find out about the author/artist George Biddle but as usual, Wikipedia provided a great synopsis. Here it is: George Biddle (January 24, 1885 November 6, 1973) was an American painter, muralist and lithographer, best known for his social realism and combat art. A childhood friend of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, he played a major role in establishing the Federal Art Project (1935 1943), which employed artists under the Works Progress Administration after the Depression. Please find then on offer here a very nice copy of: An American Artist s Story by George Biddle. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches, 326 pages) was published by Little, Brown and Company of Boston dated 1939 and the First Printing of the First Edition. The book is bound in wide woven light brown & beige cloth with gilt titles on the spine and protected by a pictorial dust jacket which has a picture of the artist from a self-portrait. There are also 31 other illustrations, most of which are reproductions of the Author/Artist s work. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some very light edge wear and faint signs of bumping to the corners and spine tips. The hard covers are clean and bright and unbumped. Inside a former owner has left her inked name on the front endpaper but this is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and illustrations are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
