The original half-maroon leather and dark green cloth boards remain structurally sound but display moderate signs of age and handling, consistent with a working railway office reference. The leather spine is heavily rubbed, with minor chipping and loss at the head and foot, and the leather corners are worn through to the underlying boards. The gilt titling to the upper board remains legible despite superficial scuffing and edge-wear to the cloth. The binding itself remains tight and square.
