[circa 1638 - 1640 ], 4 ff., 435 pp. [ mal chiffré 535 ], 4 ff., 459 pp. [ avec 2 ff. chiffrés 59-60) Ce très fame…ux ouvrage fut tout d'abord publié à peu d'exemplaires, imprimé en secret au château de Sully par un Maximilien de Béthune (1559-1641) âgé et en disgrâce. Il s'agit ici de l'un des premières et des plus célèbres contrefaçons. Les deux feuillets de titre sont bien reconnaissables ornés des 3 "V" des 3 vertus théologales, peints en vert, surmontés de la couronne d'Amaranthe, peinte en vert et rouge. On peut lire en garde cette amusante note manuscrite ancienne, à l'encre : "Les Mémoires du Duc de Sully ont été imprimés en 2 vol. in fol. environ en 1649 ou 1650, mais cette édition a été fort chatrée par ordre de Mr le Prince qui donna 200 écus, afin qu'on ota ce qui y étoit contre la naissance de feu Mr. son père. Voy. Gui Patin lettre 34 in fin." Mais cette lettre de Guy Patin datant du 28 février 1650, ce denier évoquait plus probablement l'autre contrefaçon rouennaise parue sous la Fronde. Bon état (reliure frottée avec usures et anciennes restaurations en queue et tête, gardes volantes un peu faibles, de rouss., ex-libris ms. ancien "Thevenet") pour ce monument de l'Histoire de France, mais aussi de l'histoire de l'économie, ainsi que de l'édition. Les séances 2 & 3 sont pas pa rues. Les séances 1-36 sont reliées uniformement en 14 tomes, demi veau, dos ornés, plats marbrés (tome 14 chiff…ré 'session 35', il faut lire 'sessions 35-36'). Les séances 37-46 brochées, comme parues. Avec des nombreuses planches, en couleurs et dépliantes. La collation révéle le manquant de la séance 45 (excursion en Champagne). Le dernier livraison (probablement publié en 1914) porte un avis: 'le Bulletin de la 44-ième session sera distribué très prochainement. Celui de la 45-ième session est en préparation'. En effet Session 44 a été publiée, et je pense que la Grande Guerre (éclatée en juillet 1914) a fait barrage à la publication. On ne peut pas vérifier cette supposition, parce que aucune Bibliothèque nationale consultée (Pays Bas, la Belgique, la France etc) posséde une série complète. Tome 1: manque planche VI; et seulement 3 photographies originales (sur 17). Les premiers 15 sessions sont fort rares, parce que le tirage était exclusivement pour le membres (autour de 100). Poids sur-élévé: 40 kilogrammes. On y joint: une lettre de 3 pages de Jules Helbig (datée 6 Dec. 1895), à Monsieur le Curé (abbé Balan ?), et un article de Jules Helbig dans tome 3: Les reliques et les reliquaires donnés par saint Louis roi de France au convent des dominicains de Liège. 1881. Avec 5 planches et envoi de l'auteur à l'abbé Balan (?).

Volumes (tômes) I-XXV (all published) , covering the ''Séances'' 1(1863) - 46(1913). Séances 2 and 3 were never published ( see Jan De Maeyer, Kadoc studie 5 De Sint-Lukasscholen en de Neo-gothiek). With numer…ous illustrations in b/w and some color lithographs. Added is an index to the first 35 ''Séances''. AVAILABLE-DISPONIBLE; complete set except for volume (tôme) 21 and 24 which are missing. Bound in 22 uniform red half-leather bindings (volumes 1-20). The vols. 22 , 23 and 25 are added in their original stiff wrapper. Some foxing at some pages and plates but generally a very good set in nice uniform bindings with gilt title on raised spines. Nearly complete set of this art periodical published by the Christian guild (Gilde de Saint-Thomas et de Saint-Luc ). They were influenced by Pugin in their ideas on neo gothic architecture and restoration. Their founders would become the creators of the neo gothic style on the continent, which developed into the ''official'' style of the Roman Catholic church during the second half of the 19th century partly under the influence of Baron Béthune, who became president in 1873. He was also the driving force behind the ''Écoles de Saint-Luc'' which cared for the education of architects , artists and craftsmen. Especially the first issues are quite rare as there were only about 100 members of the guild during this period. In 1882 this changed when the guild started to cooperate with the ''Revue de l'art Chrétien''. (Most of the later volume are available as separate volumes, please ask by e-mail).
