In den WarenkorbA small archive from composer Charles L. Bestor including an original circuit layout diagram for the installation "Cycles," circa 1990, and a cassette tape, dated "1987," containing "Suite #3 from 'Pathways for the Dream Spell Series' for tape alone." Laid in is a handwritten list of "Bestor Compositions," with inventory number "5-0826," listing "Suite for Alto Sax and Percussion," "14:30," "Prelude Chaconne - Motu etc.," "Sort of Love Songs - Four Studies in a Somewhat Jazz Style," and "Bestor/Cornett 'Cycles' 12/11/90," and "Pathways ." The circuit layout diagram comes from the installation "Cycles," created by Bestor in collaboration with visual artist Barbara Cornett and lighting designer John Wade, circa 1990, commissioned by the Maier Museum of American Art, and toured extensively in the mid-Atlantic states. The music on the cassette tape, noted on the box label as "Charles Bestor - Suite #3 from 'Pathways, for the Dream Spell Series' for tape alone," was composed by Bestor for the installation "Pathways from the Dream Spell Series," created in collaboration with sculptor Sherry Healy, and was exhibited at the Chicago International Art Exposition, the Illinois State Museum, the Michigan Art Park, and the Chicago ARC Gallery. The cassette, a Maxwell XLII-90, is dated "1987" and noted as "Dobly B" on the tape box's label, with "Bestor - Pathways 3" written on the spine, and "Bestor - Pathways" on the cassette A-side label. Composer and educator Charles L. Bestor taught at the Julliard School and the University of Colorado at Boulder, and served as professor at the University of Massachusetts. Bestor studied with Paul Hindemith at Yale University, Vincent Persichetti and Peter Mennin at the Julliard School, and independently with Russian-American electronic composer Vladimir Ussachevsky. His compositions are largely drawn from 12-tone music and jazz, and recordings of his music have been released on the Capstone, Centaur, New Arial, Living Artist, MSR Classics, Orion, SCI, and Serenus labels. Circuit Layout diagram, 8.5 x 11 inches. Very Good plus, with a horizontal crease, and light overall creasing. Cassette tape, Near Fine. Not played.…
