All were orally recounted by ordinary Chinese, recorded on tape by the author and later transcribed and translated into English. Dr. Hensman was a career scholar and academician who held senior posts in mainland Chinese and Hong Kong universities beginning in 1937. Light wear to head and tail of DJ, faint tape residue on FFEP; otherwise jacket, binding and interior pages all fresh, clean and unmarked. xxxvi, 336 pp., 29 b&w illustrations with red seals, bibliography. 1st Edition, signed by author to title page dated 1992. The dustwrapper is lightly rubbed with fading to spine, has some wear to the edges, with some very small rips to both ends of spine and fold ends. The black boards are clean with very mild bumping to the edges, with bright lettering to the spine. The binding is firm. The pages are clean and crease free. This book has 178 pages. All in all a nice example of this book.
