Hardcover. Zustand: gut. 1997. Dieses Buch schildert den Bau und Betrieb der Deutz-Gießener Eisenbahn und der Zweigbahn nach Siegen, wo Anschluß an die Ruhr-Sieg-Strecke erfolgte. In bisher noch nie aufgezeigter Form werden die alten damals errichteten Bahnhofsanlagen mit ihren Empfangsgebäuden dargestellt. Alle wichtigen Bahnhofsgleispläne von Deutzerfeld über Betzdorf bis nach Siegen und von Petzdorf bis nach Haiger dokumentieren die Geschichte dieser Strecke und Bahnhöfe. Einen sehr großen Raum der Berichterstattung nimmt die Geschichte der Betriebswerkstätte Betzdorf ein. Aus kleinen Anfängen im Jahr 1861 entwickelte sich hier eine großangelegte Bahnhofsanlage der Köln-Mindener-Eisenbahngesellschaft mit der Reparaturwerkstätte Betzdorf, dem späteren AusbesserungswerkBetzdorf. Dieser Werkstätte ist eine besondere Berichterstattung gewidmet. Wir erleben die Entstehung und den Untergang der ehemaligen Hauptwerkstätte, schildern auch, welche Lokomotiven von 1892-1926 hier ausgebesert wurden und zeigen hierzu außergewöhnliches Bildmaterial. Das Bahnbetriebswerk Betzdorf ist der Schwerpunkt dieses Buches bezüglich der Berichterstattung, wobei auch die Lokomotivbahnhöfe dieser Dienstelle nicht vergessen werden. Dokumentiert durch mehr als 300 Abbildungen aus der Zeitvon 1862 - 1980 wird aufgezeigt, welche Lokomotivbauarten bzw. Lokgattungen hier beheimatet waren. In statistischen Aufzeichnungen und durch die erstmals in dieser Form aufgezeigten Lokbeheimatungen von Betzdorf aus der Zeit von 1862-1976 erleben wir den Aufstieg und die Abdankung der Dampflokomotiven.
