Light scuffing and wear to extremities with some marking or bleaching of some small areas of the black cloth. Strong and tight, a very good copy with some light wear. Internally clean. Some sporadic foxing to prelims. A highly collectable little volume dealing with as many aspects of the occult history and practices of "Ancient Egypt" (a rather large brief) as can be jammed into a couple of hundred pages. One particularly splendid anecdote, in the midst of a discussion on grimoires essentially being Chinese Whisper corruptions of Egyptian esotericism, describes a popular, erratic young artist of the 1920's who obtained a 'genuine' occult work in the search to perfect his art, which drove him quite mad until "he ended in a gas filled studio!" The entire book (alongside many others) is an illustration of the theory that no sooner has an occult mystery reached London, than it becomes a London occult mystery, whether it originally hailed from Thebes or Port Au Prince.
