A particularly nice-looking set, complete in five volumes, covering the history of Russian costume, embroidery, and fashion from 1750 all the way to 1917, published in various years but in Moscow. Bound handsomely in white linen cloth covers, w…ith brown lettering to covers and spines, very light sunning to, soiling of covers, else clean, tightly bound and unmarked. Uniform of size and condition and with hundreds of lovely illustrations, in both black-and-whtie and full color. Russian language texts. Machine- but not price-clipped dust jackets, all protected in Bro-dart, showing a bit of sunning and soiling but not much. 1750-1830 (published in 1960; [4], 5-170 [2] pp.); 1830-1850 (published in 1961; [4], 5-182 pp.; 1850-1870 (published in 1963, [4], 5-182 [4] pp.; 1870-1890 (published in 1963, [5], 6-182 [4] pp.; 1890-1917 (published in 1972, [r], 5-222 pp. Scarcely available to the trade in this condition and state. The set is in full edited by V. F. Ryndin, with gorgeous illustrations by V.I. Kozlinskii. Taken together and singl the set's volumes approximate French language and Russian language tomes that cover the same period in the same way. Interestingly, each volume also contains technical information to help guide set designers and tailors.
