This volume is intended to provide general readers with an appreciation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty's possibilities and problems, as foreseen by a diverse group of highly qualified experts. In 1967 the American Society of International Law established a Panel on Nuclear Energy and World Order. The members of the panel represented different disciplines--law, the natural sciences, the social sciences--had brought to the effort a variety of experience in government, the academic community, research organizations, and private industry. This volume is not a committee report. It is a collection of essays that have taken into account suggestions by panel members. Mr. Boskey was the Chairman of the Panel and Mr. Willrich was the Panel's Rapporteur. From an on-line posting: Bennett Boskey is currently in solo practice and formerly was a partner in the law firm of Volpe, Boskey and Lyons and its predecessors until its dissolution in 1996. He was special assistant to the Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice in 1943, an adviser on enemy property in the U.S. Department of State in 1946-47, and an attorney for the Atomic Energy Commission from 1947 to 1949, where he served as deputy general counsel in 1949-51. Mr. Boskey has written extensively on legal subjects, particularly on matters relating to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He was for many years a member of the International Legal Studies Program Advisory Council of the American University Washington College of Law, as well as a member of the Board of Review and Development of the American Society of International Law. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School. After law school he clerked successively for Judge Learned Hand, Justice Stanley Reed, and Chief Justice Harlan F. Stone." Good. No dust jacket.
