In den WarenkorbTrumbull was Lincoln's sometime political pal and served Illinois as senator from 1855 to 1873; he co-authored the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, abolishing slavery. Wade was the powerful leader of the Radical Republicans and served Ohio in the Senate from 1851 to 1869. "L Trumbull" signature in brown ink on a 3"… X 1" buff slip, n.p., n.y. Very good. A tad age toned. "B.F. Wade / Ohio" in black ink on a heavy stock 3" X 2¼" card, n.p., n.y. Near fine. Mounting traces on verso. This attractive pair is accompanied by a 6" X 9½" heavy stock steel-engraved group portrait, clearly a book plate from a Civil War-era volume given its ornate lower caption: "Eminent Upholders in Congress of the War for the Union." Very good. Minor age toning and bit of foxing. Twelve head-and-shoulders portraits of noted Congressmen (each within a decorative oval) are arranged to form a large oval shape, with Trumbull at upper right and Wade at lower right. Others are Roscoe Conkling, Reuben C. Fenton, John A. Kasson, William D. Kelley, Elihu B. Washburne, Henry Winter Davis, Henry S. Lane, George W. Julian, John P. Hale and Zachariah Chandler.
