Spooner, who advocated for struggling families and children across communities that Campbell worked in, including Rugby and Carlisle. She also established the charitable Ladies' Diocesan Association in London, to help bridge the gap between rich and poor. Following this, he delves into the life of his son, Crauford, an earnest clergyman who showed a sunny kindness in his endeavours. The book urges readers to follow both Catherine and Crauford as inspiring models.Published shortly following the deaths of Catherine and Crauford, who both passed away in 1878, the memoir is also a portrait of grief.
