Six portrait gravés dont un sur un feuillet détaché, index. La publication des mémoires de Talleyrand suscita polémique et doutes : étaient-ils seulement authentiques ? « Talleyrand avait légué se…s papiers ? dont ses mémoires ? à la duchesse de Dino. Un délai de trente ans avait été jugé nécessaire par le prince avant toute publication. A la mort de la duchesse, en 1862, les papiers de Talleyrand revinrent à Adolphe de Bacourt, ancien ministre à Bade, conformément au v?u de Talleyrand. Bacourt mourut en 1865 avant d?avoir pu trier tous les papiers et achever l?appareil critique qu?il jugeait nécessaire. Il fixa un nouveau délai de vingt ans avant toute publication. Les mémoires ne parurent qu?en 1891 lorsque M. Andral, leur nouveau responsable, en confia la publication au duc de Broglie » (Tulard, 1396). Quant à la polémique sur leur authenticité, Tulard tranche la question en recommandant à l?historien d?utiliser ces mémoires « avec précaution ». Bel exemplaire. Quelques frottements à la reliure.
