Benedetti fut mis à la retraite d'office en août 1871. Plus largement, l'ouvrage, par les pièces qu'il délivre, est intéressant sur l'équilibre européen de la fin des années 1860, sur la constance de la politique de Bismarck, sur la guerre de 1866 et les négociations secrètes qui s'ensuivirent, pendant lesquelles Bismarck fit connaître à l'Europe entière les prétentions de la France sur la Belgique et le Luxembourg.Dos un peu frotté, traces d'usures sur les mors et les coupes, intérieur frais.
