Bechstein, 1757-1822, war Forstwissenschaftler und Ornithologe, seit 1800 war er Direktor der Lehranstalt für Forst- und Jagdkunde in Dreißigacker, bei Meiningen. Seine Naturgeschichte der Stubenvögel erschien zuerst 1795. 1840 wurde eine 4., vermehrte Auflage gedruckt. Diese Ausgabe wurde von Edmund Berge neu hrsg, vermutlich handelt es sich um den Forstwissenschaftler Carl Heinrich Edmund von Berg.
