Contains descriptions of different layers and their fossil contents (mainly molluscs). The geological profiles are detailed and nicely coloured. Published in the Society's Transactions. Uncut. A very good, clean copy.

London, William Phillips, 1836. 8vo (22.0 x 13.2 cm). xxii, 335 pp.; one folding table, three hand-coloured geological folded engraved maps including the geological map of France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switserland, a part of Germany and northern Italy by Omalius d'Halloy; eight folded lithographed plates. Later half cloth with red morocco label with gilt title on the spine. De la Beche (1796-1855) was the first director of the Geological Survey of the United Kingdom and produced the famous Memoirs. This is a translation of works regarded by De La Beche as most important to British geologists. Old owner's signature on the front flyleaf, some of the plain plates with a rather large waterstain in the top corner, otherwise a good copy. Ward and Carozzi, 616.
