1/4 leather. Zustand: Good. First Edition. 4to 11" - 13" tall; 640 pages; [1851] London Printing and Publishing. Three volumes, complete. 268; 262; 110 pp. Soundly bound in 1/2 morroco backed spines and corners with marbled paper covered sides. Leather nicked and rubbed at spine ends and corners; some surface rubbing and light abrasion to the marbled paper covered sides. Front endpages missing from Volume I & III; frontis plate missing from Volume III. Frontis for Vol I is loose and laid in. Moderate foxing and occasional light finger soiling and spotting to the engraved plates. Most tissue guards have been removed. Here and there a short closed edge tear to plate margins, a few with old paper tape repairs. It is possible that there are several plates lacking overall. We have examined the plates as called for in the contents and find none missing, but the unusual index style list of plates makes for an exceptionally difficult job of accounting for completeness. Uncommon now in complete three volume examples, this record of the first of the 19th Century World Fairs is a remarkable historical document.
