Stamped "Property of the Dublin Chess Club" on title page and several leaves. Inscribed on the front endpaper: "Presented to the Dublin Chess Club by Parker Dunscombe - 2 December 1899". Dunscombe was a chess competitor for the University of Dublin in the Armstrong Cup, which was played by teams. The Armstrong Cup is the oldest Irish team league competition and has been played every year since 1888, perhaps giving it a claim on the longest running chess competition in the world.
